Meet the Team: Part 3
By now you know that ASHA is working with the Indiana Prevention Resource Center at Indiana University (IU) to provide support for our programs and services. For the past couple weeks, we’ve been introducing you to the staff at IU that are working to ensure ASHA delivers high quality programs and services that will prepare our members to transform all schools into places where every student learns and thrives. Today, we are thrilled to introduce:
Cindy Flynn
Program Manager
Cindy has a rich and diverse background that makes her ideally positioned to manage ASHA’s programs and services. She has worked intermittently at IU since 1979 having gained 35 years of total service. In that time, she has worked in community-based prevention efforts, provided technical assistance to partner organizations and helped support business operations such as office and financial management services, database management, and economic development. For the past 14 years, Cindy has served the Indiana Prevention Resource Center as a financial and contract compliance officer for block grant recipients. However, it is Cindy’s experience in event planning that is of particular value to ASHA. In her new capacity, Flynn will work with us to bring all this experience together by helping plan the ASHA Annual Conference, supporting day-to-day business operations, and working with the other team members to create successful, sustainable, and engaging programs.
Cindy has earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree with emphasis in public health from Indiana University. She is also a graduate of a medical assistant program at the Professional Careers Institute in Indianapolis and she’s a trained EMT. Outside of her professional role, Cindy is a native of Bloomington, Indiana. This February, she will celebrate her 38th wedding anniversary with her husband Waine. They have three children and four grandchildren that keep her busy. As if all that wasn’t enough, Flynn also enjoys hobbies such as photography, scrapbooking, sewing, crocheting, and gardening…where do you find the time for all that, Cindy?
When asked what she is most looking forward to in her new capacity, she said, “I am very excited and enthusiastic about working with ASHA, advocating for improvement in school health programs and educating others on the importance of both the physical and mental health of our youth.” Well Cindy, on behalf of us all, let me say, we’re pretty stoked about working with you too! We hope you’re looking forward to engaging with Cindy as well. You can reach her via email (cflynn@ashaweb.org) or by phone (202-854-1721).
